Redmi note 7 is the much awaited and hyped model from Xiaomi’s independent sub brand Redmi. The rear dual camera setup with Samsung G1 sensors is eye catching while the Redmi note 7 pro comes with Sony IMX sensor.
The Redmi note 7 was launched on 10 January in china. The base model starts at CNY 999 (approx. ₹ 10,400) offering 3GB Ram and 32 GB storage option, going higher in the price segment the upgraded version is going for CNY 1199 (approx. ₹ 12,500) and the top model costs CNY 1399 (approx. ₹ 14,600). Like most Xiaomi devices we are expecting this to be launched in India soon, in the beautiful colour options of Twilight gold, Fantasy blue and Bright black.
Moving towards the hardware department the dual sim (hybrid slot) Redmi note 7 sports a 6.3 inch IPS LCD screen with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 giving a screen to body ration of 81.4% with a waterdrop notch and a resolution of 1080 × 2340 pixels (i.e 409 ppi density) aided by the Corning Gorilla glass 5 to keep you going through the toughest of falls and unlucky drop downs. The 48-megapixel camera at the back is paired with monochrome dual LED and PDF focus. Features like night sight, AI powered portrait mode and background blur and HDR are supported. The 13-megapixel front camera fitted with selfie sensor comes with AI-backed faceunlock, beauty mode, potrait, single shot blur and more.
The Redmi note 7 comes with the latest Android version 9.0 i.e pie with MIUI 10 skin over it. It is packed with an octa core CPU Kyro 260 with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset which is an upgrade from the Redmi note 6 pro which was 636. The company could have gone for 675 processor but looking at the price segment the company is targetting let’s not get greedy. A powerful GPU for the price range being Adreno 510 is present to make your gaming experience smoother.
It supports microSD card upto 256 GB but that uses the sim slot 2 leaving you with the option of using two sims or one sim with a SD card. It has rear mounted fingerprint reader like most Xiaomi devices in the market. It comes with USB 2.0, type C port with Quick charge 4 and a battery capacity of 4000 mAh, which when paired with the snapdragon 660 is going to give a decent performance plus battery backup. The company boasts a standby of about 251 hours, 23 hours of talktime and 13 hours of video playback. Redmi hasn’t betrayed has yet when it comes to the 3.5mm jack and the company has got you covered on the upcoming trend of Volte. The phone comes with Bluetooth v5, GPS, AGPS and Wi-Fi.
To conclude the Redmi note 7 is a real steal for the price segment it’s being launched in and let me point this out Xiaomi is going to cause a chaos in the market with these specifications. We are going to see some great competition happen because when we see people reaching out to the costly flagships for heavy battery and better camera performance we find out that the best steal deals are happening at the lower price section of the market.
