As the Cricket World Cup is in date with the new champion as England cricket team after a very thrilling final super over game now ICC has announced ICC Hall of Fame. After waiting more than 5 years finally ICC announced Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar as Hall of Fame. ICC tweets ” did turn Legend does not do him justice Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar is the latest inductee in ICC Hall of Fame. Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar is the sixth Indian to be awarded as Hall of Fame before Sachin six more Indians Bisen Singh, Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar, Anil Kumble and Rahul Dravid was named as Hall of Fame.
Sachin Tendulkar is holding the current record of highest test runs and highest one day runs and the only batsman in the world who has scored hundred centuries in international cricket. Sachin Tendulkar has scored 15921 runs in test cricket with 45 wickets and 18426 runs in one day internationals with 154 wickets. Along with Sachin, Allan Donald of South Africa withholding 602 International wicket with an average of 22.4 and Cathry Fitzpatrick, women cricketer of Australia, who holds the number one women’s bowling ranking for 2113 days in a row also named as Hall of Fame this year.
The English players(28) are having highest number of Hall of Fame followed by Australia(20), West Indies (18) India(6), Pakistan (5) New Zealand (3) South Africa (3) and Sri Lanka(1) .Bishan Singh, Kapil Dev and Sunil Gavaskar was named as Hall of Fame in 2009. Kapil Deval name as Hall of Fame in 2013 and Rahul Dravid was name is Hall of Fame in 2018. But the question is why Anil Kumble and Rahul Dravid is named as Hall of Fame before Sachin Tendulkar? We all know that Sachin started his career way before Dravid and Kumble’s carrier. Is ICC saying that Dravid and Kumble deserves to be Hall of Fame before Sachin. No definitely not we all know that Sachin is most deserving cricketer in the world to be name as Hall of Fame there is no such competition between Sachin, Dravid and Kumble but why ICC did so.
The main reason why this happened is because of the rules of ICC as per the rule a player can only be at this stage after 5 years of his or her retirement as Anil Kumble was retired in 2008 and Rahul Dravid was retired in 2012 and Sachin Tendulkar retirement 2012-13 so it took ICC 5 years to name him as Hall of Fame after Dravid and Kumble. We all wanted Sachin Tendulkar in Hall of Fame in the same year in which he retired but as per the rules this didn’t happen. We are blessed to see such legendary cricketers on the ground together and holding such great results for India at International levels.
